Synovial Impingement Mistaken for Lateral Meniscal Lesion (A Case Report)

Abstract
The synovium is a thin, innervated, highiy vascularized tissue that covers all internal surfaces of the knee, apart from the articular cartilage and menisci. So located, the synovium was known to be prevented from impingement during flexion and
extension movements of the the knee joint by space filler effect of menisci.
While there are many reports on the impingement between the patella and femoral condyle, like in the plica sydrome and Hoffa`s disease (infrapatellar fat pad sydrome,) there is no report on the synovial impingement between the meniscus and the
femoral
condyle. We experienced the synovial impingement between the femoral condyle and lateral meniscus in 52-year-old man complaining of lateral knee joint pain with positive McMurray test, and report with review of the literature.
